JOHN J. “JOE” TERRIL
Founder and President
Terril founded Terril & Company in 1979. As an independent investment advisor, the firm currently oversees more than $500 million in trust, retirement plan, IRA and individual assets for clients in 23 states. The company also serves as an investment sub-advisor to the trust departments of banks, where it manages the portfolios of their high net worth clients.
His engaging style in communicating investment themes and penetrating analysis of national and international business trends has made him a frequent contributor to WBBM-Radio 780 (Chicago), “The Money Show” on KMOX-Radio 1120 (St. Louis), the St. Louis Business Journal, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and in national financial publications including the Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, USA Today, the Wall Street Transcript as well as Reuters and the Associated Press.
Terril began his Wall Street career in 1976 as an institutional account executive with a major Wall Street firm.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Illinois in Springfield, Ill.
DAVID CARTER
Senior Portfolio Manager
In addition to assisting with the investment management of client accounts, Carter works with Joe Terril in monitoring the firm’s current investments and directing its research on new investment ideas.
Carter’s advisory career spans 28 years, with a consistent focus on value investing. Prior to joining Terril, Carter was affiliated with Wisconsin-based Milwaukee Company. After relocating to St. Louis in 1987, he was an investment advisor for the former Burns Pauli and for Huntleigh Advisors.
Carter earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.
TRICIA WARNER
Research Assistant
Warner brings nearly two decades of financial analysis experience to her role of monitoring current investment holdings and researching new investment ideas for Joe Terril and Dave Carter. She also assists with account administration and client relations. Prior to joining Terril & Co., Warner served in various financial evaluation and auditing capacities for Solutia, Laclede Steel and Deloitte & Touche.
Warner earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and a master’s degree in business administration from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.
CHANDA ADAIR
Senior Administrator
Adair is responsible for tracking and coordinating the reporting of transactions related to investment portfolios. She also handles day-to-day operations and assists with client account needs.
Prior to joining Terril & Co., Adair was a co-owner and operator of Heartland Gymnastics in southeast Missouri.
She holds two bachelor’s degrees from Southeast Missouri State University in business administration and exercise science.
BRIAN CURTIS
Chief Information Officer
Curtis is responsible for creating industry analysis reports, writing portfolio management software, designing and maintaining databases, creating intranet applications and managing the day-to-day software technology needs of Terril & Co. in its service to clients.
Prior to joining Terril & Company, he owned a technology consulting business that supported the IT function by writing custom applications for firms in the financial service, consumer products, education, entertainment and sports industries as well as for Washington University in St. Louis.
Curtis earned a master’s degree in finance from Webster University. He also has a bachelor’s degree in management information systems.
NOREEN ADAIR
Associate
Adair is responsible for tracking and coordinating the reporting of transactions related to investment portfolios.
Prior to joining Terril & Company, she was a legal assistant for a law firm in southeast Missouri.
Adair earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism, with a minor in theater, from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
